Our History
VAR S.r.l., the Italian subsidiary of the CBM Company Group, based at Corso Allamano 41 in Grugliasco (Turin), is an Italian company that has been active for more than forty years in the public mobility sector and related services. Its operations in Italy began in the early 1980s, and over time the company established itself as a key partner for public transport operators.
Historically recognised as a leading supplier of spare parts for public transport vehicles, V.A.R. S.r.l. has developed acknowledged expertise in the bus, tram and metro sectors, building strong and long-lasting relationships with the main operators and manufacturers in the Italian market.

A Broad Scope of Expertise
In recent years, in response to changes in the sector and growing demand for specialised expertise, V.A.R. S.r.l. and the CBM Group have broadened their scope of operations. Alongside spare-parts supply, they have developed a structured presence in maintenance and technical support services for buses and guided transport vehicles, including trams, metros and rail vehicles (RAIL), operating with qualified personnel in compliance with the applicable Italian and European regulations.
The Establishment of N.M.S. Italia S.r.l.
As of January 2026, this growth path resulted in a strategic organisational development, separating service activities from spare-parts sales.
This process led to the creation of NOVA MOBILITY SERVICES ITALIA S.r.l. (N.M.S. Italia S.r.l.), with its registered office at Corso C. G. Allamano 43 – Grugliasco (Turin).
N.M.S. Italia S.r.l. is the Group company exclusively dedicated to:
- technical assistance and maintenance in the bus sector, including retrofit operations and powertrain conversion;
- service and maintenance for guided transport vehicles (tram, metro and rail), as well as their subsystems, in accordance with the ANSFISA Decree of 28 December 2023 and European Regulation 779/2019;
- the sale of spare parts for the rail, metro and tram sectors.
Spare-parts sales for the bus sector remain the responsibility of V.A.R. S.r.l., ensuring operational continuity and dedicated expertise in each field.

- Team of specialised technicians for the maintenance of guided transport vehicles, including metro, tram and rail vehicles, as well as buses.

Research & Development
The N.M.S. Group is also proud to have, within its Italian organisation, a team dedicated to the research and development (R&D) of equivalent spare parts and products for guided transport vehicles (metro, rail, tram and trolleybus). The team analyses market requirements and develops tested and certified alternative products, validated by the bodies designated under the applicable regulations.
In addition to developing alternative products, the R&D team supports customers in preparing all documentation required for the approval of equivalent products and, where necessary, works alongside the relevant supervisory authorities through to the commissioning of the system.
Reverse Engineering
Obsolescence management and reverse engineering: development of equivalent mechanical components based on your new samples.
When original components are no longer available, we provide redesign solutions based on reverse engineering. This approach enables us to design and manufacture identical replacements for obsolete components while ensuring compliance and performance.
